South Shore Medical Center in Norwell and Kingston has an innovative program to deal with the problem of pediatric obesity and overweight. We designed the site to appeal to children and to engage them in learning more about nutrition and weight management.

Body Mass Index (BMI) calculators on most sites provide a single BMI number. For children, though, BMI must be considered in context as an appropriate BMI varies for different ages as more body fat is to be expected at different stages. The Shape Your Future BMI calculator considers height, age, and sex and then plots the number on a graph against the expected range of values.
